WOMANSPEAK
"WomanSpeak" Project was initiated as a celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the LPTW International Committee, by inviting the International Committee's Members and our International Affiliates to lend their unique voices to “WomanSpeak" and describe what that phrase evoked for each woman who submitted. In thirty words or less, each participant was asked to share her thoughts in a sentence, a phrase, a fragment, a word, a haiku, a koan, in verse, in a brief narrative, or to free associate, in expressing her distinct point of view. Every submission was then read and presented at our special event, at the LPTW'S Holiday Party in December of 2013. Based on the success of this project, LPTW'S International Committee has decided to pursue the hearty continuation of this evocative, soul-searching project, as we hear our International Woman Speak once more!
THE LEAGUE OF PROFESSIONAL THEATRE WOMEN
The League of Professional Theatre Women is a not-for-profit organization that seeks to promote visibility and increase opportunities for women in the Professional Theatre. We do this through numerous programs and events. Please visit the official website for LPTW, in order to find out all we do for women in theatre: www.theatrewomen.org
LPTW'S INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE
Founded in 2003, the committee develops contacts with theatre women around the world to broaden awareness of other cultures and promote opportunities here and abroad. We recruit and cultivate affiliates and host them when they visit New York. We encourage and provide support for the formation of a League Chapter in our Affiliates’ respective countries and facilitate dialogue and advocacy for women in theatre, across borders. To celebrate our mission, every three years we present the LPTW Gildner/Coigney International Theatre Award.
THEATERLAB
Theaterlab is an artistic laboratory dedicated to the research into the nature of live performance. Through the development of new and experimental work - including theater, music, and visual art - Theaterlab supports New York City's diverse community of artists as well as the general public interested in seeing emerging new work. Theaterlab also focuses on audience development as a creative project. We regard the theatrical experience as a creative public assembly with the audience as an important partner in fulfilling our mission. In addition to producing and presenting new work, Theaterlab provides affordable space for rehearsal and project development, including resident and affiliate artists programs. www.theaterlabnyc.com
