Malini Singh McDonald
and Guest Lynda Sing
Malini Singh McDonald (Producer, Publicist, and Marketing Director) is a native New Yorker who has been involved in the arts for her entire life. She’s served the theatre in many aspects of which she’s very proud – actress, director, producer, stage manager, costume designer, prop designer, theatre reviewer, publicist and writer/monologist. She received her BA in Theatre Arts and English Literature from Baruch College and her MFA in Directing from the Actors Studio Drama School. In 2003, Malini and her husband, Ian, created Black Henna Productions with a handful of innovative artists. Every member of the company collaborates on every piece, either writing, acting, directing, designing, or filling any other role that fit their own personal skills with a commitment to bring new, exciting, and challenging theatre to the world. She is an associate member of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society. Malini received the Woman of Distinction Award for her contribution to Media, Arts and Culture from the City of New York in 2008. She was a Person of Godspell during it’s run on Broadway at Circle in the Square.

She is currently co-producing Imaginary by Nick Radu with Nick Radu. Malini is also very excited about Gym Shorts: The Show for which she is currently the Press Representative.

My project, simply, is to help give a voice to fellow artists. My number one means of doing that is through my newsletter, Theatre Beyond Broadway. The official newsletter began last August but I have been emailing friends about friends' projects for almost decade. Besides the importance of supporting one another, I feel it's important to let others know that art isn't being created in a vacuum but is consistently occuring if you look for it. It's not just on Broadway or at New World Stages. It's happening down in the Lower East Side, or Brooklyn Heights, or City Island, Snug Harbor, all over Queens and Long Island. Artists are creating. The PR becomes more special when I am specifically hired to promote a project like Gym Shorts.  Great concept of relationships set in a gym told in five vignettes. Endorsed by Tony Horton, creator of P90X. When an artist creates their magic, there are times I have interest in producing which is currently Nick Radu's Imaginary. We are working on a backers' audition in June.

Current Projects:

  • Co-producer of Imaginary by Nick Radu
  • Editor and Founder of Theatre Beyond Broadway (a newsletter for the carefree theatre lover who craves theatre beyond Broadway)
  • Marketing Director, EstroGenius Festival
  • Executive Director, Black Henna Productions

Lynda Sing
(Producer/Company Manager) is thrilled to be producing Gym Shorts: The Show. She holds a B.S. in Arts Administration from Butler University and has a background as a performing artist with major companies here in NYC.  Because of her interest in health and well-being she is now a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 500 hour level and is studio manager for Zenyasa Yoga & Wellness Studio. This project combines the knowledge and skills she's acquired as a performing artist, arts administrator, studio manager, and yoga teacher.  This endeavor brings together her enthusiasm for the arts and fitness, and she's strived to administer this show in a positive and kind way for everyone involved. She is happy to help to bring this truly unique show to audiences who will absolutely identify with the life it explores. She'd like to thank everyone who has put their time and effort into this production especially Derek, Kermit, and Eric for this Short journey, which is just the beginning of great things
